WOW. It has been awhile since I posted here. Well I was never able to complete the Maya course. Just way too much going on at the time. Maya Advanced Modelling comes out soon, but I won't be ordering that till next year.

So what all have I been upto? Well other than work, my World of Warcraft +guild Knights Templar have been finally getting into Molten Core pretty heavily. I havent gotten any Might yet, but soon. My only competition right now in DKP points is Zalkar. YARR! I expect to have my first piece of Might in a couple more weeks.

Ugh! How am I going to control myself? Here I am using my free time to work on the class, and here comes Battlefield 2. I have been waiting for this game for so long. I discovered Battlefield 1942 before the hype started. Same for Desert Combat mod for it. So impressive and so fun. It came at a time when I was bored with other multiplayer games. To me, Unreal Tournament just isn't all that fun.

As far as the class goes, I turned in my alien and ship model last night. Will check my review when I get home. I added some ridges to the alien eye to give that Jabba's eye look. Want to hear what Buzz and Zak think of how I did on that.

Unfotunatly I am falling behind a bit on watching videos. I have been a bit busy with work and the extra time I put into the NURBS tools, but I am going to get caught back up to where I want to be. This weekend I will get back hardcore into the VTM's. I need to finish the playground vids and beyond. But tonight I am going to hang out with some friends for a little while as I need to get out of the house for a break. I have either been in bed asleep, or in front of a computer non-stop since the class started. If the BF2 demo ends up coming out this weekend, I might play a little, but my priority is to at least get the playground done this weekend. Oh, and Sunday night is ECW One Night Stand PPV. So gotta watch that! ECW. ECW. ECW. ECW............ :D

At anyrate, lunch break is over and it's time to get back to work.....

I finished my saucer last night

Added a little extra detail. Not all that wanted, but just something extra to play around with a couple of the tools some more.

I also nearly have my alien done. I have been adding a little ridging to the eye area to give a little more detail to it.

It is amazing what I am learning. Ever since watching the alien building VTM's I have gained a NURBS eye. What I mean by that is I am looking at some images and objects and I can start seeing how to construct them. I just now got some ideas on adding some more detail when I start working on the alien while looking at the Art of Oddworld book.

Currently I am adding a little more detail to the ship. Not much though. I just thought some parts of the model could use a little more detail. Looks kinda plain to me and as I said yesterday, I want to try and go a little above and beyond the VTM's to show Buzz and Zak that I am learning from them.

Hopefully I will get some images up in a day or 2.

Well I finished watching all the ship building VTM's. Currently I am thinking of some ways to make some adjustments to the what I want the final model to look like. I want to take this set of lessons as an opportunity to go a little above and beyond the minimum. I have a couple ideas. One is to put a gap in the bulky outter ring parts between the top and bottom piece. Plus I want to model the tobing in a way where instead of being connected to the bulky part of the outer ring, to be a free floating piece that the outer ring glides over as it rotates. Like its a magnetic drive. :) I think that will make it alot nicer after animation as the glowing parts will blink on and off as those parts spin into the bulky parts. Hard to explain, but if I will post a render if I accomplish it.

At least that is my plan at the moment. Just depends on how comfortable I get with the tools. I do not want to get to far behind trying to get too fancy because I want to give myself plenty of leeway for the Mech assignments and the 3 bonus assignments recently added to the course.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Buzz and Zak once again. I am really starting to get real comfortable with many of the tools. Especially the Hypershade. I used it so much over the weekend trying to complete the color wheel assignment that I have Hypershade burned into my brain. For those of you in the upcoming courses, the material is really worth more than every penny you spent on it. And even though it is very early, I am looking forward to the Advanced modelling class and plan to get in on that as well.
